I feel really classy. Even though dancing is hard when it’s impossible to lift your arms above your shoulders. The vest and shorts are actually the same brand and print, even though they weren’t sold as a matched pair. I felt kind of like a pirate with my vest and poofy shirt, which I actually got for $1 at a flea market!

The back of the vest is all lacy, and it’s really pretty! Try and ignore my attractive facial expression.

I can say with confidence that these boots are my favourite part of this outfit. Even though they don’t fit me perfectly so it’s impossible to dance in them. But that’s what I have Jazz Shoes for, of course. I love these boots, and the fact that they were only $7 makes them even better. Today, somebody asked me if they were hard to walk in. It amused me.

Today in SMTC we learned our song for my age group. It’s from the musical *claps* Pippin! (Musical Theatre has the best jokes.) The opening number is called Magic To Do, and it’s got a really cool feel to it.

In Repertoire, we staged One Short Day, which is from Wicked!

It’s really cool to be able to learn the song, because when I saw Wicked on tour I was too busy drooling over the costumes and the lighting to notice the song very much. It’s a wonderful song!

Today was the first day of my musical theatre camp, and since I was going to be dancing, I had to make sure I had something I could move in. I recently bought this lovely knit shirt with a flower on it, so I decided to wear that and pair it with a black polka-dot skirt I own.

It ended up with a very adorable classic look, and with some tights and shorts underneath, the outfit was great for dancing in. Especially since the skirt was pleated and a light material, so every time I spun around, my skirt flared.

I had so much fun just spinning- I twirled way more than I normally do. I also paired the outfit with some nondescript black heels, but I don’t feel the need to show them to you as they are kind of boring. They looked cute with this outfit though, and they fit well so they were easy to dance in.

I recently bought this set of six Hello Kitty lipgloss rings, so I wore one of them today. The lipgloss smells really lovely, but it’s very strange and gooey so I don’t use it. The necklace was given to me by my mother, and I love its old-fashioned look. I got my earrings at Fanimecon in San Jose from a lovely person in the artist’s alley- she gave me a dollar off because she liked me, which was really sweet. This one is a spoon, but the other one is a fork.

I’m having a lovely time at SMTC, my musical theatre camp. We’re doing two shows in two weeks.

One is entitled the “Risk” show and is a week from next Wednesday. For the Risk show, we all get into groups and choose one number to choreograph and perform with little help from our teachers. My group is doing the piece “Before the Parade Passes By” from the musical Hello, Dolly.

I’m supposed to be arranging right now, but I’m writing a blog post instead. I’m also in charge of costumes, which means I get to sew five circle skirts this weekend. I’m gonna put in some extra panels of fabric so they’re extra swirly, which will be fun on stage.

The other show, at the end of the two weeks, is a Revue in which all the song selection and choreography and solos is up to our directors. The camp is split up into age groups, so generally for the revue each age group does a number and then each gender group does a number and then we have some numbers with everyone in the camp. One of the numbers I know of that we’re doing for this so far is a piece called “Steal Your Rock and Roll” from the newer Broadway Musical Memphis. (The other is the infamous One Short Day from the incredibly popular Wicked.)

I’d never heard it before today, but I love it already. The choreography we’re doing is incredibly fun, and I’m hoping the soloists are really good because it could be pretty amazing.

The directors on the team for this camp are basically the best Musical Theatre people in Eugene. As an overall director, we have Al Villanueva, who is incredibly enthusiastic and has great music taste. Our spunky pianist/vocal coach is the incredibly talented Vicki something, who has been hired to play for every broadway musical that comes to town and then some, and that’s how we got the score for One Fine Day- she photocopied it for us. Our theatre director is Tony Rust, who teaches at Marist high as well as directing and acting in plays all over Oregon. We have three dance teachers, Margo, Laura and Terry, who all specialize in different art forms and are all incredibly encouraging to the clumsiest of dancers. Basically everything I know about dancing in shows I learned from them, especially Laura who has taught me invaluable things about posture.

The main focus of SMTC is to turn everyone in the camp into a Triple Threat- Singing, Dancing and Acting, and I must say it’s really working.

I intend this to be a fashion blog, focused mainly on my personal fashion. It’ll probably be heavy in pictures of me and my clothes, but because I’m nice I’ll throw in the odd kitten or two.

There may also be accounts of fashion-related incidents, but for the most part, this blog is gonna be about my clothes.
